Everyday World Building With Agent, Kristina Pérez

Date(s) - 01/09/2021
10:00 am - 11:15 am

“Everyday World Building” will give participants the tools to effectively create the world of their story––even if it’s just their hometown. Participants will gain insight into how to properly orient their reader and fully engage them with their protagonist’s journey. This will include research skills and observation skills that are relevant for both fiction and narrative non-fiction writers alike.

Kristina Pérez is an Associate Agent at the Zeno Literary Agency. She is a half-Argentine, half-Norwegian native New Yorker who has spent the past two decades living in Europe and Asia. She is the author of several novels for Young Adults (the Sweet Black Waves trilogy and The Tesla Legacy) published by Macmillan.

She holds a PhD in Medieval Literature from the University of Cambridge and has taught at the National University of Singapore and the University of Hong Kong. As a journalist, she’s written for many international news outlets including the Wall Street Journal Asia, Condé Nast Traveler, and CNN. Her academic monograph, The Myth of Morgan la Fey was published by Palgrave Macmillan.

Join us for Everyday World Building. Whether you write fantasy, historical, contemporary, narrative nonfiction, or memoir, you’ll learn how to deepen your worlds.

This 75 minute webinar includes a question and answer period. The webinar will be recorded if you can’t attend live. The recording will be available for four weeks after the event. Participants will also be able to submit to Kristina for two weeks after the webinar. This is a great opportunity as she is usually closed to submissions.

Kristina Pérez will critique the first ten pages of a limited number of middle-grade and young adult manuscripts. The critiques will be written only. Please note, critiques are available for members only. Once you are signed up, we’ll send you an email with details about submission formatting and guidelines.

Submissions are due by Dec. 14, 2020.

*A Zoom link to the webinar will be emailed to all attendees on 1/8/2020. Please note that the event is scheduled for 10 am Mountain Standard Time on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2020.

**Please join us for a New Mexico Middle Grade and Young Adult Author Panel at 11:30 pm MST after this event. Our authors will share their process, experience, and latest book! This is a free event and a link will be sent to it along with your webinar link.

***Also please note that you can pay with a credit card. You will be taken to PayPal where you can then enter your card information. You do not need to have a PayPal account to do this.
