The Enchantment Show
Come with us on THE JOURNEY
The 2023 Enchantment Show will be presented at the Main Library in Santa Fe through May and later at a library in Albuquerque. This show will give you the opportunity to promote yourself through your website or social media accounts AND you could win a professional critique.
Our theme is THE JOURNEY. We encourage new creators, seasoned creators and everyone in between to participate. The show will be judged by part-time Santa Fe resident and author-illustrator Pat Cummings. The top three prize winners will receive a professional critique by an agent or editor.
Registration is FREE, one entry per member, please.
A few things to note:
The show will be judged by part-time Santa Fe resident and author-illustrator Pat Cummings. Pat will award three top prizes for professional critiques. The award recipients will be able to submit an eight piece illustration portfolio or an up-to-10 page, double-spaced writing sample for critique to the industry professional that they have been assigned.
Creators will be able to include a QR code on their hanging tag to direct viewers to their social media account or website.
For written pieces, please limit your work to 150 words or less. Poems, flash fiction and excerpts are all welcome.
For illustration, digital prints are best. We are not responsible for original artworks in the library.
Illustrators and writers will not work as partners, unless privately arranged.
You will need to submit a physical piece for the show as well as a digitized copy of the work if you wish to enter the competition.
We are planning a celebration for the show at the library in mid-May in Santa Fe. Please watch for details.
Please, no profanity or adult themes for this library show. As we are children’s creators and our work will hang outside children’s libraries. Please be respectful.
Frame your work. Make sure frame back has a wire running horizontally from one side of back of the frame to the other. Choose a neutral frame…blonde, white, black, grey, metallic or wood, no larger than 18” x 24”. Sharon has a limited number of black metal frames from previous Enchantments shows. If you need one, please contact her at: newmexico-ra@scbwi.org
Physical pieces will need to be delivered to a drop-off location in Santa Fe or Albuquerque during a window of time to be announced.
